ABOUT THE FOUNDER Master Barber & Grooming Consultant Marvin Church is the founder and lead grooming consultant behind the brand. With decades of elite-level grooming experience, Marvin has become known for his precision-based approach, executive clientele, and refined eye for masculine image architecture. While Marvin’s career spans high-profile grooming work across the United States, from television studios to political offices to private clients in the public eye, the foundation of his work remains the same: Delivering luxury-level grooming that enhances confidence, presence, and personal brand. His experience includes grooming for: • Prominent business leaders and executives • Political figures, civil rights icons, and public thinkers • Athletes, actors, and on-air personalities • Media outlets, including NBC Universal and major talk shows.
He has been featured in The Washington Post Magazine, Jet Magazine, and The Washingtonian for his influence on modern grooming culture. Marvin continues to lead the grooming experience inside his private suite while expanding the Marvin Church Grooming brand into retail grooming products, education, and elevated men’s wellness experiences.
Also known as “Marv The Barb,” his celebrity barbering alter ego, Marvin has kept the image of men and women alike who live in the spotlight. His list of clients includes, but is not limited to, Georgia Congressman and Civil Rights champion John Lewis. Marvin groomed the late Congressman Lewis for his “March” volumes 1-3 book tour. He has also styled NAACP IMAGE AWARD actor Tobias Truvillion, Champion Boxers Bernard Hopkins, and Mikey Perez, NBA players Brandon Bass, Omeka Okfur, and NBA champion JaVale McGhie, MMA fighter Melvin Guillard, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones, Culinary star Chef Roble, and many more.
Marvin has an in-studio contract with NBC Universal as Chuck Todd's personal groomer for “Meet the Press”. He has styled the in-studio look for United States Vice President Mike Pence and many more during his tenure at NBC. In addition, he is the personal master groomer for best-selling author, political commentator, and Georgetown University professor, Michael Eric Dyson.
Marvin has assisted Mr. Dyson in maintaining his look for many years across all major media outlets where he appears or hosts monthly. He is also listed in the credits of the book “What Truth Sounds Like” as the “World’s Best Groomer”. Marvin accompanied Mr. Dyson for the entire season of shooting his daytime talk show “The Raw Word” in Hollywood, California, in 2019. There, he also styled hosts Dr. Dan Ratner and guests such as personality Jerry Springer, Actor-Activist Hill Harper, Actor Lyriq Bent, and Film producer Tommy Wiseau. More recently, Marvin accompanied Mr. Dyson on the major media tour of his newest New York Times best-selling book, “JAY-Z: Made In America”. Tour stops included popular daytime talk shows: The View, Sway In The Morning, and Real Time with Bill Maher, Stephen A. Smith Show, The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Undisputed with Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless, The Breakfast Club, The Combat Jack podcast, Nick Cannon’s Master Class podcast, Toure Show, Jemele Hill’s podcast “Unbothered”, Jack The Ripper podcast, Melyssa Ford’s podcast “I’m Here For The Food” and many more.
Marvin decided to enter the global male grooming market and launched Marvin Church Grooming Products, offering beard oils and balms. The product is a mainstay for clients who use it as part of an overall Marvin Church Grooming system. Marvin looks forward to expanding his footprint in the grooming world beyond the domestic East and West Coasts and into the international community.
